Why we’re doing it

I’ve recruited the gang to accompany me on this challenge walk as I raise money for the Ann Edgar Charitable Trust, who support those diagnosed with neuro-endocrine cancer, their families and carers. I am walking in memory of another great friend of mine – Linda Story.

Linda and I met when we were the only two female students in our year on the town planning course at Dundee University graduating 40 years ago, in 1979. She died at the beginning of December 2018 having faced up to neuroendocrine cancer (pheochromocytoma) for 9 years, while supporting others with the same condition through the Ann Edgar Charitable Trust. She volunteered with the Trust, and latterly chaired it until she was too sick to continue. When I last met Linda I told her that I planned to walk the WHW to raise funds for the Trust and she couldn’t have been more delighted. This is my tribute to a good friend and an inspiring fundraiser and campaigner who endorsed us all to live life to the full.
